What does a successful Java Software Engineer do at Fiserv?

At Fiserv, our technology engineering leaders bring an open and creative mindset to developing our clients' solutions. We're looking for software developers who can work collaboratively and have experience in a range of technologies. These developers should define solution architecture plus have the tenacity and attention to detail to work through complex problems. Our environment consists of modern APIs, micro-services, third-party integrations, and cloud infrastructure.

What you will do:

  • Work in a collaborative environment to identify and analyze functional requirements and develop and implement complex software solutions to meet those needs

  • Test and maintain code that will support large-scale solutions

  • Create high-performance applications using Spring Boot and leverage modern streaming and cloud architectures in a fast-paced, result-oriented environment

  • You will work within agile teams of engineers developing talent, ensuring high quality and innovation are in place to help clients

What you will need to have:

  • 5+ years of current, hands-on experience in software development using Java/J2EE

  • 5+ years of current, hands-on experience working with the Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring MVC) and RESTful APIs

  • 5+ years of experience in RDBMS (Oracle/SQL Server)

  • 3+ years of experience with database design, performance tuning, and optimization

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working in Cloud Native technologies such as Kubernetes, Dockers, HELM Charts and OpenShift

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar degree, or equivalent experience

What would be great to have:

  • Experience in the finance/banking sector

  • Experience with cloud migration (Azure/PCF/Openshift/AWS)

  • Experience in building distributed, service oriented, microservices-style and cloud-based application architectures

  • Experience in automation testing, mock frameworks, virtual services, performance testing and pipeline tools like Jenkins or Concourse

  • Experience in containerization with applications deployed on Docker or Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and/or Agile methodologies
