Linux/Redis Engineer

What does a great Linux/Redis Engineer do at Fiserv?

The Linux/Redis Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing Linux-based systems and Redis databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Linux system administration and experience with Redis database management.

What you will do

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based operating systems, monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

  • Implement security best practices to protect systems from vulnerabilities and threats, perform regular system updates and patches.

  • Install, configure, and maintain Redis databases, optimize Redis performance and capacity planning.

  • Set up data replication and backup strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

  • Monitor Redis databases for performance and troubleshoot issues, develop and maintain automation scripts for system and database tasks.

  • Implement configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet to streamline system management.

  • Set up monitoring tools to proactively detect system and database issues.

  • Work with DevOps teams to integrate systems and databases into the CI/CD pipeline.

What you will need to have:

  • Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience building Linux servers from end to end

  • Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator and Redis database administrator.

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including command-line proficiency.

  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python).

  • Understanding of security best practices and the ability to implement them.

What would be great to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology

  • Relevant certifications, such as Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or AWS Certified Database - Specialty.

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Understanding of networking principles.
