What does a Senior Project Manager role look like?
The primary role of Senior Project Manager – Client Delivery is to take the lead and overall responsibility for a Timely Delivery of all Projects and Releases under a Program to the Client’s Satisfaction and within Budget. A proactive approach will be expected for the managing of resources along with maintaining and controlling expenses.
This role will be looked upon for recommendation to strategic approaches for functional and business solutions, and the implementation of committed projects under the program to the client's satisfaction. Responsibilities will include team leadership and motivation, team resourcing and maintenance of quality standards, as well as planning for delivering the small, medium and large scale projects under the program on behalf of Clients within the region. The position requires a wide range of Management, Planning, Technical and Analytical skills as well as a solid working understanding and experience of the Cards industry and business drivers for growth.
The Senior Project Manager leads the 2-3 Project Managers and has an extensive interaction with both the internal suppliers, Business/Technical Analysts, Testing team, as well as, extensive liaison with clients, vendors, and business partners. The role will include overseeing of Project Managers to complete the end-to-end project lifecycle for changes to the processing systems.
Timely Delivery of all Projects and Releases under the Program to the Client’s Satisfaction within Budget
Lead regular Project Review Meetings with other internal members and Project Managers of individual Projects
Escalation point for Program Risks and Issues management from Internal as well as External Parties with the ability to make decisions and provide leadership for successful resolution of issues and mitigation of risks
Responsible for ensuring that the Fiserv Development Methodology is followed for delivery per the quality standards and if required, introduce new processes or tweak existing processes
Responsible for developing, maintaining and tracking the overall plan for the delivery of the Program
Regular tracking of the actual effort, revenue and cost against the forecasted figures and coming up with strategies for minimizing cost over-runs without impacting the quality of deliverables, revenues and profits for the Program
Work closely with Clients and associated vendors and maintain good working relationships
Facilitate/manage program communications and stakeholder, client and sub-project team expectations
Weekly Project Meetings with Individual Project Teams
Stage Gate Meetings with Individual Project Teams
Lead RPCCB and PGLA meetings representing Fiserv for the designated Program
Mentor less tenured Project Managers to ensure proper Project Management Methodologies are followed
Ensure proper approvals are obtained from Clients for delivery of changes
Lead various meetings and conversations with internal and external clients to ensure proper information is obtained or exchanged
Interact with PMO (Project Management Office) to ensure the proper reporting and communication of service deliverables and ensuring its regular reporting back to the clients
Familiar with standard project life cycle methodology
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 5-7years of project management experience
Strong knowledge of the Cards industry
Good business sense and technical understanding of Credit Card Systems, Industry issues, Compliance requirements, policies and practices
Knowledge of VisionPLUS or equivalent card processing systems
Demonstrated effectiveness in leading project teams
Excellent communication skills and customer facing skills
Able to communicate complex ideas simply at all levels
Strong stakeholder management skills
Good to have
Background in programming: CICS, COBOL, and SQL
Understanding of mainframe file system eg: VSAM, IAM, DB2 and file transmission tools
PMP or PgMP certified
