What does a Great Software Development Engineer do?

You will be a member of a fast-paced, dynamic development team helping create and enhance custom software applications that complement our core banking software (DNATM).  You will also work directly with our Credit Union and Bank clients to create and enhance product integration software, enabling our clients to use their preferred banking software products together with DNA as their core banking system.

Position Summary:

Software development position, primarily using SQL, PL/SQL, XML, Oracle tools – including packages and functions, and SQR, C# .net and Python.  Responsibilities include software development, unit testing, problem analysis and resolution, software documentation, support of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and related client support functions.  

In this role, you will also assist with other software development and support activities to help our team effectively meet our clients’ needs.    You will also work closely with our clients and other Fiserv team members collaborating to create best-in-class solutions.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document software based on customer requirements.
  • Assist with the creation of software development proposals and estimates, in response to requests for services and products from clients and other Fiserv teams.
  • Ensure that the finished product is delivered to the client on time, with high quality and is signed off by the client.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions and technical discussions and demonstrate the ability to assist in translating ideas into technical designs.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, other software developers and business analysts to ensure successful delivery of products and services.
  • Research and correct software defects reported by our clients.
  • Effectively work and communicate with other departments to coordinate the completion of projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the software development field of study plus 2 years of professional software development experience. 
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 5 or more years relevant software development experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a project team in a collaborative effort.
  • Demonstrable experience programming in SQL, a SQL variant, Python, PL/SQL, C#, supported .net frameworks or Oracle SQR.
  • End-to-end working experience across the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software development using Python
  • Experience with software development using PL/SQL
  • Experience with software development using C#.NET
  • Experience with software development using Oracle SQR
  • Familiarity with Graphical User Interface design principles and software development including Card Based user interfaces
  • Experience with performance optimization diagnosis, tools and techniques
  • Experience as a software developer creating or maintaining core banking system software for Community Banks or Credit Unions
  • Experience working in a customer / member facing role or as a back-office employee at a Bank or Credit Union.
