What does a great Senior Business Analyst do?
In this role in Global Business Services (Fiserv Acquiring) Technology, you will be a critical lead member of a fast-paced software development team. This team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of merchant acquisition from managing a lead to actual merchant onboarding. This role frequently has direct contact with our clients and our Product Management and Commercialization teams.

You will assist with the software development and support process by defining and documenting software requirements in the form of technical specs, Jira tasks and detailed wireframes. And reviewing the developed software to ensure that it functions correctly, meets our software development standards, and will fulfill our customers’ requirements.  Work directly with our product management team and clients throughout the software development, delivery and support life cycle as needed to ensure client satisfaction.  Assist as needed with other activities relating to our team’s ability to effectively meet our clients’ needs.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Work with stakeholders to clearly define and document their requests as part of technical specification.

  • Act as gate keeper between business and engineering, focused heavily in understanding the business requirements end to end and translating them to technical specification that engineering can code against.

  • Define Jira epics, features and tasks that the engineering team can understand and translate to development tasks to code.

  • Assist with diagnosis/troubleshooting of reported problems pertaining to software developed by the department.

  • Determine how to best implement the requested changes/customizations.  This will include working with Development staff, Product Managers, QA staff and/or other Business Systems Analysts.

  • Create functional business requirements documentation with sufficient detail to enable application developers to complete the programming request and the business to understand how it meets business and client needs.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) / mentor to development staff during the development phase of the project.

  • Ensure that the final user documentation effectively conveys the information our clients need to know about the software.

  • Review QA testing and validate developed software to ensure that the completed product matches with the business requirements and operates correctly.

  • Answer questions that may arise relating to the installation, configuration, or successful operation of the software.

  • Document work so that instructions and descriptions can be understood and used.

  • Effectively communicate functional implementation and design in meetings, in written form, and in one-on-one conversations with peers, managers, and others.

  • Confer with development team, product management and QA during the analysis, definition, and development phases.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field

  • Experience within the Payment industry can range from Fintech to payment processing. Familiarity with the lifecycle of a payment processed from the merchant to the issuance.

  • 5+ years of recent experience in applying principles and practical application of business systems analysis.

  • 5 or more years of business experience within the Retail Banking and/or Credit Union industries.

  • Familiarity with account/product design and implementation.

  • Solid knowledge of SDLC (Waterfall and Agile) development methodologies.

  • Familiarity with Graphical User Interface (GUI) design principles including user interfaces.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience with creating simple SQL queries.

  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), and MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills since this position requires extensive communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Experience with risk identification and mitigation.

  • Experience with compliance and regulatory.

  • Experience with software problem research methods.

  • Demonstrate exceptionally strong team leadership qualities.

  • Ability to motivate others, build consensus and provide assistance to the team.

  • Ability to produce written procedures, policies and verbal instructions that require minimal supervision.

  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in high pressure situations.

  • Experience with the Axure prototyping application.

  • Must be well organized and methodical in approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work under deadlines.

  • Must be detail oriented, an innovative thinker since many of the programming requests are for new capabilities.
