About the Team

BentoBox and Clover. Now working together to help restaurants do more.  The Point of Sale team enables Clover to integrate directly with BentoBox’s platform to deliver powerful restaurant commerce tools. This enables restaurants to manage their business with confidence and ease through an expanding suite of connected payment, ordering, inventory, reporting tools and more.

What does a Backend Engineer do at Clover?

You are tasked with improving/expanding our platform and product. You will accomplish this by developing new features, investing/reproducing/resolving bugs, and creating helpful documentation. Partner with the Infrastructure, Product and Design teams to deliver on an iterative model where application features and server improvements are released every other week.

What you will do:

• Design and implement REST APIs for mobile and web clients including our payment devices, web dashboard, and 3rd party apps

• Identify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with realistic project planning and feature development; translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, extensible software that is in-line with company objectives

• Own your merchant-facing services /features from development through deployment and production monitoring

• Participate in design/code reviews.

• Mentor junior engineers

• Partner with the Infrastructure Team to design data models to support large-scale highly available services

• Work with QA to develop test plans/strategies

• Participate in a regular on call rotation

What you will need:

• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field

• 8+ years of industry experience

• Strong coding skills; Java is our language of choice

• Strong knowledge of relational databases, MySQL

• Experience with microservices, preferably Spring Boot

• Experience with API design

• Superior problem-solving skills and debugging capabilities

What would be great to have:

• Exposure to React and web programming

• Experience with a cloud platform, preferably Google Cloud

• Python scripting

• Experience with Android programming

• Data analysis experience
