Position Description Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Data Ethics & Privacy Officer (CPO), this position is to serve as a lead Privacy subject matter expert, based in the UK but supporting the company’s operations globally with appropriate Privacy guidance. The Privacy Director (UK) will be a key point of contact for Privacy enquiries arising in EMEA and APAC, and will be responsible for executing upon the Global Privacy Program, as well as supporting the CDEPO in respect of global initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build, improve and mature Fiserv’s global data privacy and protection program to align the global and regional programs. Advise internal clients on compliance with legal requirements and Fiserv’s privacy policies, notices, standards and procedures.
  • Undertaking risk assessments in all aspects of Fiserv's businesses to identify key areas of risk, and to prioritize activities accordingly.
  • Monitoring for new laws, regulations and associated guidance.
  • Assist in setting strategy and formulating training and communications plans for specific programmes, initiatives and engagements.
  • Assess legal, regulatory, technology, industry and consumer sentiment developments in data privacy, security and consumer protection areas to help the organisation assess risks and trends and determine priorities.
  • Identify and implement comprehensive processes and tools to support implementation of data privacy and protection policies, Privacy Impact Assessments, Data Subject Request responses, Privacy by Design and manage customer/employee consents and complaints.
  • Build, coordinate and deploy privacy training and communications programs through multiple avenues, including in-person training, specifically around operational compliance with privacy principles, privacy by design, data subject requests, and cross-border transfers.
  • Develop a privacy risk mitigation strategic plan and coordinate implementation of that plan within Fiserv’s Global Privacy Programme.
  • Monitor the various industry and/or country or region-specific privacy and data protection regulations and legislation. Understand the regulatory framework that applies to privacy risk assessment processes, analyse compliance requirements and make recommendations as needed.
  • Improve and maintain subject matter expertise of local data privacy and protection regulations impacting countries in which Fiserv operates.
  • Support Fiserv’s Legal, Compliance and IT departments with investigations and responses to privacy incidents.
  • Improve and maintain cross-border data transfer legal frameworks, including Intra-Group Data Transfer Agreements and the EU model clauses.
  • Lead, under the supervision of the CDEPO, Data Privacy, the planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department. May be responsible for a mix of direct and matrix reports.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Data Privacy on a Global scale (Privacy qualification e.g. CIPP preferred)
  • Experience working within a data privacy/protection position with a preference towards Financial Services or Banking companies, but not essential.
  • Previous experience leading a team.
  • Ability to drive cultural changes through thought leadership and partnership with other teams in the business.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) with ability to communicate effectively and convincingly on Compliance and regulatory matters to a broad range of partners.
  • Willing to take action with a genuine curiosity about new markets, products and regulatory constraints.
  • Working independently and a capacity to take initiative within one’s scope of responsibility
  • Working in an efficient way with partners based in regional and international jurisdictions.
